José has been working in the Electrical Sector for the last 20 years and is now in charge of Technology and Innovation activities at Endesa Group, as CTO. He is also CEO of the R&D afilliate Endesa Network Factory, which is the SmartGrid company of Endesa. Formerly his ENDESA’s responsabilities he worked 3 years at ABB-Cidespa 5 years at the National Institute of Industry, and also he is Associate Professor at Comillas University, where he has been teaching Electrical Systems for 10 years. Jose Arrojo is the ENDESA’s representative at several institutions and technology platforms as UNESA, Engineers Royal Academy, Spanish Platform for Intelligent Grids, Spanish Club of Energy and MIT Liaison Program. Member of international jury for ALTRAN Prizes and co-autor of the book “Energy: the future technologies” (Spanish Club of Energy). He is member of the Boards of DS2 (Design of Systems on Silicon) and SADIEL (a Spanish TIC company), Technical Secretariat of Spanish Platform for Intelligent Grids and Chairman of Spanish Platform for Energy Efficiency.
Paola Petroni is a vice president at ENEL in Rome. ENEL is the principal electricity operator in Italy with the leading position in the generation, distribution and sale of electricity, and with a strong presence in the gas market. Responsible for the research and development of new technologies, she has directed the implementation of the information technology system for the “Enel smart meter project”, one of the most innovative applications in the energy sector. In Italy, more than 30 millions of meters have been replaced in the last six years and now they are remotely controlled and read. Prior to joining Enel, Ms Petroni was responsible for the development of the ICT System for the Energy Exchange in Italy Involved with energy management, automation and control systems for over 25 years, she is responsible for the “Smart Grid” research and development activities in Enel, leading, as Project Coordinator, the European Commission Project ADDRESS (FP7
Gunnar Lorenz is Head of Unit - Networks at EURELECTRIC, the European electricity industry association. He is leads a team managing the Network Committee and its groups within the EURELECTRIC Secretariat. The focus of EURELECTRIC's Networks Committee is to represent European DSOs with one voice towards European Institutions and stakeholders. Several international working groups support the Committee on issues such as Smart Grids, Electric Vehicles, Network Regulation, Network Customers, Transmission and others.
Andrew Hiorns has worked in the electricity supply industry for over 30 years, with the last 10 years working in transmission planning within National Grid. He is presently the System Development Manager where he is responsible for the development of the transmission system in England and Wales. In undertaking this task, Andrew is responsible for evaluating the implication of any generator connecting to the transmission system and determining the appropriate reinforcements required to accommodate the generation.
Erik Hauptmeier

Erik Hauptmeier joined RWE from Infraserv GmbH in 2009 and is responsible for the technical assessment, supervision of corporate R&D projects and the external cooperation with other companies and institutes. After studying electrical engineering Erik undertook many research project into energy systems and energy economics at the University of Dortmund and at ZEDO e.V.
Andrew Perry

Andrew Perry is Senior Policy Advisor in the Future Electricity Networks Team in DECC. He has responsibility for taking forward smart grid policy as well as looking at future grid policy from a wider perspective. Prior to his current role Andrew worked as a Management Consultant for a number of years, most recently with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
Dave Sowden is an experienced director in regulatory and public affairs with close to 20 years’ experience in the energy industry and an track record in obtaining changes in UK and EU legislation and regulation. He is a member of the Renewables Advisory Board, and has had a pivotal role across a number of years in shaping key aspects of UK energy policy, especially in the microgeneration sector. Dave began his career in electrical engineering and first moved into Public Affairs while working for the National Grid. Having gained extensive experience of both UK and EU energy policy in a number of roles, Dave is now Managing Director of well-established consultancy firm, JDS Consulting Associates Ltd, Chief Executive of the Micropower Council, an advocacy organisation for the microgeneration industry, and Executive Adviser to Micropower Europe, a similar organisation recently established in Brussels.
